Start with what changes the next step
Every question should earn its place. Ask for information that helps your team understand the request, assess suitability or prepare a useful conversation. If the answer won’t change what happens next, consider leaving it for the call.
Make the essentials easy
For a service business, the basics may be the service needed, location, timing and an appropriate budget range. The exact questions depend on the offer. Avoid treating every buyer like they’re applying for a loan.
Give people room to be unsure
“I’m not sure yet” is a useful answer. Route early-stage enquiries to helpful information rather than automatically rejecting them. A genuine prospect may need guidance before they can name a budget or timeline.
Pass the context on
The handover should contain the original request, the answers collected and any unresolved questions. Your team should be able to continue naturally without making the prospect repeat everything.
